We’re here to make public space a political priority.
Public spaces are at the center of politics—impacting climate, safety, and health—but for too long, politicians have been treating it as an afterthought. Now, we are putting public spaces front and center. Whether New Yorkers are stuck on a slow bus, struggling to find a safe place to walk, or dodging cars on their bikes, these issues demand political action. Public space is political, and it’s time we treat it that way.
No matter what walk of life you come from, you deserve access to clean, safe, and functional public spaces that are made for you—not just cars. This isn't just about individual street design projects or bike lanes, it's about systematically transforming how the New York City Council approaches public space and prioritizes it in policy and budgets.
We’ve had four years of inaction—or worse, outright rollbacks—on livable streets issues. Too many elected officials see parking spots as more valuable than safe streets, and we want to change that. We’re building power. We’re supporting candidates who will fight for safe streets, better transit, and more public space. And we’re making sure politicians understand that there are electoral consequences for ignoring these issues.
We are going to start building a group of City Council members who are champions of safe, vibrant, and accessible public spaces.
Right now, we don’t have enough strong champions for public space in the Council. Even electing a few key leaders could shift the political landscape—helping shape committee leadership, push forward major initiatives, and create a new political environment where public space is a top priority.
We are building coalitions to ensure public spaces remain a priority for New York City for years to come. Every movement starts somewhere. Winning key races now–in 2025–sets the foundation for even bigger victories ahead.
